标题[问题] receive受词问题

大家好,
最近遇到了一个问题...
I pay 1 unit for the other person to receive 2 units.
这句的to receive 2 units是谁receive? I 还是 the other person呢?
我第一次翻成:
我为另一个人付了一个unit 以得到两个 units.
问题是谁得到这两个units 呢?
我认为是靠近two units 的那个受词: the other person
请问这样的理解是否有误? 还是其实要看上下文决定受词呢?
