标题[分享] SAT/GRE背单字方法

稍早在整理资料，发现n年前自己写下的背单字方法，
虽说是为申请美国大学的 SAT 写的，但考 GRE 照样得背单字，
所以希望对大家有帮助啦!

SAT 单字该怎麽背?
(1) 单字卡
我都用 4 x 6 英寸的 index card，剪成对折再对折的大小
，正面写上单字和词性 (知道词性考 SAT 会有帮助)，
背面写上解释跟自己归纳的同义字(单字背多以後就会发现同义字了)。
有些字的解释不好记的话，最好自己想一个容易记的方式，
例如将例句或一个片语写下来等等。
例如 effigy 一字的单字卡，正面写上：
effigy (n.) <= 单字 (词性)
(EF-uh-jee) <= 念法，大写表重音
背面则写：
A likeness of someone, esp. one used in expressing hatred for
the person of whom it is a likeness.
=> dummy (同义字)
一次大概做十张卡，随时带在身上。一天背十张，六天就六十了，
还有一天可用来复习。抄写的时候对单字就有印象，
前几次先快速念过单字跟字义 (单字怎麽念要先查好)，
接着就开始考自己：
a. 看单字考字义 => 例如看到 "incendiary (adj)" 要能想到
"arouse passion or anger, used for setting things on fire."
b. 看单字考同义字 => 看到正面 "incendiary (adj)" 想到
"inflammatory (adj)" (同样是 SAT word), incense (v).
c. 看字义考单字 => 看到解释 "used for setting property
on fire; tending to arouse passion or anger; inflammatory"
想到 "incendiary"
d. 造句 => 最好造会解释这个字的句子, e.g. "The arsonist used
an incendiary device to set the house on fire."
走路背、坐公车背、捷运上也背、体育课前看一个字再去上课、
中午吃便当前背、洗澡时背，真是随时随地都在背。
单字卡的好处就是体积小，携带方便，口袋一塞就出门了。
一天结束的时候，再考考自己，你会发现有几个字你老是记不住，
这时可以把他们抽出来放到明天要被的单字中，继续复习。
你如果懒得自己做单字卡的话，也做好的有的单字卡可购买:

(2) 创意写文章法
一天十个单字，可以用来创意写文章，把十个单字全部用在文章内。
这个比较花时间，但是效果很好。文章越爆笑越好，
最好用身边的人事物做文章，记的会越牢。例如：
单字为 incendiary (adj), effigy (n), reprimand (n),
plight (n), indict (v) 五字，可造句：
Since Joseph blames Terence for his current "plight", he
made an "effigy" of Terence and hung it from a tree. He
also designed an an "incendiary" device to set it on fire
at midnight, but something went wrong and the entire
house was burnt down. Joseph not only received a stern
"reprimand" from his parents, but was also "indicted"
for arson by the court.
因为内文都是你自己编的，编的时候得花很多心思，之後看到那些字，
就会联想起这些故事，字义自然而然就记起来了。
(3) 网路资源
参考书里的练习题多做，每个不会的字查到会，也做成单字卡。
网路上也有很多练习的地方，和免费的资源，
如 Kaplan 和 Barron's 的网站也有些资源可用。
(4) 多看文章
如 Time, Newsweek, 纽约时报等网路上都有文章可看，
因为 SAT I Verbal 有考阅读，且内容广泛，
所以最好多涉猎知识，而且看文章可可以增加字汇。
