当初申请时因为心中很旁徨.又不知该如何增加胜算. 所以找了许多editor编修相关文章来壮胆.其中遇到很用心的编辑.也有很OX的 以下是我对他们修改品质的一些心得.依照编修文类与推荐程度作排序并附上心得 希望能帮助将来有编修需求的版友 ****************************************************************************** AWA 1.Cyber Savant http://cybersavant.blogspot.com/ 修改方式：每篇七美金.四篇以上每篇六元.同篇文章可多次修改不加钱 优点： A.准时交件.赶时间可以向他说.他若能配合交件时间.便会收件 B.可以多次修改 C.会帮忙澄清与强化句意与评监文章架构.而非只改文法错误 缺点：勉强来说的话就是价格不太可爱吧 例子： 我的句子：Another instance is the case that computers save out much time in searching for information which was searched by reading books. 修改版：Another instance is the case that computers save much time in searching for information which used to be done by spending hours reading through a bunch of books. 2.来欣张老师 (我忘记他的名字了) 修改方式：一篇100台币.一周後可自来欣柜台领回 优点： A.价格便宜 B.改件迅速 缺点：只改文法错误.不给文章结构的意见.也很少指出意见不清或表达不够强烈的句子 3.来欣谢忠理 修改方式：一篇100台币.一至二月可领回 优点：无 缺点：除了张老师改件的缺点外.再加改件极慢.完全不推荐给他改 总评：一分钱一分货.Cyber虽然比较贵.但给他改比较有收获.预算够的话建议找他改 ***************************************************************************** SOP 1.Victoria Scott （好友HC推荐的私人编辑） 修改方式：一小时五十美金.不接受信用卡.需用汇票寄到美国 优点： A.准时交件.赶时间可以向她说.她若能配合交件时间.便会收件 B.修改非常用心.除了改正文法用字外.会一一询问意义不清的句子. 待确定没有误解我的意思後.再行修改.如此一来一往需讨论多次 经她修改後.我才彻底了解自己以前的英文表达多麽含糊 C.非常有礼貌.修改说明也很详尽 缺点： A.价格贵.我一篇二面半的SOP.最後含运与汇票手续费.共花了8500台币左右@@ B.她不是专改SOP的编辑.所以无法提供太多SOP结构的建议 例子：（很长.慎入） 我们来来回回至少修了3次.以下是她看完我的SOP後的第一次回信： Hello, Mirranda: attached are the two files. I don't do any grammatical or style issues in this round, because you might be changing those sentences anyway. Round 2 addresses issues of clarity, style, and language. Round 3 addresses any points that I wasn't able to address in round 2 because I wasn't sure what you meant. 优点：计费方式.修改次数都可以商量.不明白他为何这样改时也可以直接问他 缺点：A.只改三轮对我来说不太够 B.对於某些句子他只说"不知道我的意思".但我认为这种修改意见很不负责任 因为假如我知道这句子哪里不清楚的话.就不需要他帮我改了 C.未准时交件.比预计时间晚了一天 另外.虽然他号称是Harvard博士生.但其实改出来的品质并没我预期中好 我曾经看过一位好友透过私人情谊.请另一位哈佛博士生修改过的SOP. 其成果远～～胜该位编辑. 我并不是质疑他谎报学历.而是想说： 就算是名校博士生.每个人修改与撰写SOP的能力也不尽相同 既然名校学生不能保证能改出好SOP.还不如去找专业的editor 而且我当初会请他编修.是因为他的领域也是中国史. 所以我想可能会得到比较专业的领域建议.不过最後从成果看来 其实也没有什麽加分的地方 既然修改内容与专业领域都没有令人惊艳的表现.那还不如找Top Admit 由於不推荐他修改.我就不附例子了 总之.SOP我最推Victoria.但假如预算有限.或许可以找Top Admit的专业编修试试 ************************************************************************ Writing Sample 留学主义 http://edupaedia.com/web-v2-big5/?mid=47 修改方式：SOP与Writing Sample的计价方式不同.WS一字约1.5元 优点：可用中文沟通.遇到不知如何以英文表达的句子时.可以直接请他们翻译 缺点：只改文法用字等错误.难以满足学术文章应有之formal style要求 例子： 原句：To be specific, whether wives and concubines both could receive the benefits of this kind of sexual arts remains a considerable question. 修改：To be specific, whether both the wives and concubines could receive the benefits from this kind of sexual arts remains a big question mark. 我看了修改後.询问：在论文中使用"a big question mark"是否不够正式？ 编辑回：是有一点.不然改成a huge uncertainty吧 当下看到编辑的回应时.其实非常不高兴. 因为该编辑公司号称是请名校相关领域博士生修改. 既然如此.但为何连学术文章的适当用字都不清楚？ 而且这情形不是只有一句而已.其他几个修改後的句子也有类似的问题 都是在我一一指出後.编辑才再改成较正式的用字 换言之.假如我不提出.也许就傻傻地寄出这篇文章当Writing sample了 更甚者.其实我的文章里面的时态有很多不一致的地方.但编辑也没有指出来 而是我请在Standford念历史博班的HE学姐帮我再读一次WS後.学姐告诉我的 根据这个经验. 我认为这个公司可能对外包的博班编辑并没有切实要求与监督 导致这些编辑以散漫的心态来修改文章.或是以为客户看不出来他们的敷衍 不过这家唯一的优点是可以用中文向负责联络的陈先生沟通 适合英文程度普通.或难以用全英文向外国编辑联络者 反过来说.如果找到其他家的类似优点者.就不一定要找这家啦～ ************************************************************************** 个人的小碎念： 我认为一个理想的editor.不应该只是修改文法而以.而应该带着脑袋阅读要修改的文章 其实从修改成果看来.许多编辑者似乎都自恃为native speaker. 根本没仔细反思文意.进而去思考我想表达什麽.为什麽要说这些.要如何让句义更明晰 而是直接拿个红笔批改文法用字 最後我拿到的仅是篇：文法没有错误.但意思表达模糊而平淡的文章 Victoria是少数让我觉得有认真去读文章的编辑者 从她的提问里.我看出她的确有去思考我的表达.并尝试帮我清楚地提出自己的想法 这种透过讨论与修改逐渐将语句磨利.让思想说话的过程.才是我心中最理想的修改方式 或许是限於修改金额吧.这样的修改服务却很少遇到.唉 --
