计画内容与目标:
泰坦为土星的卫星之一,是太阳系中除了地球之外,唯一拥有浓厚氮气大气层的天体,其
表面大气压力为地球的1.5倍。甲烷大概占有2%。因为泰坦的重力很小,藉由氮气和甲烷的
光化学反应与高能离子作用,可以产生非常复杂的碳氢化合物。这项研究工作是希望可以
了解在1000公里以上的化学作用,并评估气胶(aerosol)在反应中的重要性。
Ionization state of the upper atmosphere of Titan

Task Description and Goals
Titan, a moon of Saturn, is the only object in the solar system other than
Earth that possesses a dense nitrogen atmosphere; the surface pressure is a
factor of 1.5 that of Earth. Tiny amount of methane (~2%) is present in the
atmosphere. Because of the low gravity nature of Titan, photochemical and
energetic ionic processes of nitrogen and methane lead to high abundances of
hydrocarbons and nitriles that when complex enough, condense to form aerosols,
resulting in a dusty and hazy atmosphere. Below ~1000 km altitude, neutral
chemistry dominates; above that level ion-neutral chemistry becomes important.
This work is to understand chemical processes above 1000 km and to evaluate
the significance of the source of aerosols produced in this region.
