follow your dreams and you feel guilty
do good by your family and you feel regret and resentment
so you sleep the sleep of the dead
a nihilistic sleep
and seek meaning in the narrative of your dream
into every hug you press your pain
and your hope
this is me, all of me, you seem to say
if i don't come out the other side
keep this part of me safe and sound
in the dark depths of your memory
i will live on, and
who knows?
maybe you'll see me
every night
just before you close your eyes
and wherever i will be, i will be found.
