Ah, death is like the long cool night,
And life is like the sultry day.
Dusk falls now; I grow sleepy;
The day makes me tired of light.
Over my bed there's a tree that gleams--
Young nightingales are singing there,
Of love, love only, singing--
I hear it even in dreams.
