这就是 Book I 主人翁 Redcrosse Knight 在 Canto 7 误饮的泉水。
成因是这泉水的 nymph 在其他人打猎时独自休息，得罪 Phoebe (Diana)：
Thenceforth her waters wexed dull and slow,
And all that drinke thereof, do faint and feeble grow. - FQ I.7.5 (Hamilton)
Redcrosse Knight 饮後不久就遭遇到巨人 Orgoglio ("An hideous Geaunt", 8)，全身
无力，只有束手就擒，给抓走监禁於一城堡中。 把他救出来的人就是 Prince Arthure.
这句话的意思，以整本仙后来看，也就是说，许多梦幻、令人松弛的的场景可能也常常
危机四伏、大意不得。这部罗曼史诗的诸多细节绝也不单纯，值得探讨。
这样有概念了吗？
