这首诗主要的文字游戏在 spring、fall、little ways，
我们可以看到最後一句的 little ways 和第二个 stanza 的
little ways 相呼应。
解开来大意是：
让我难过的并不是爱情的逝去，而是它逝去的方式。
（她对这段恋情的结束方式觉得难过──
"little ways" as opposed to something significant。）
