In one of the letters, President Ma Ying-jeou is said to have "shown great kindness" towards the students. Short of calling President Ma a supreme leader, the press division of Berlin wrote a letter objecting to the story published earlier by the popular daily, die tageszeitung, comparing the Ukraine and Taiwan protests. 最近台湾的驻外代表处忙到翻 忙着写信给各个机构试图掩埋学运造成的政府丑闻 The Taiwan press office in Washington, D.C. also wrote a letter to the editor in response to a comprehensive essay about Taiwan published on the National Interest online.
