Hotcourses urges our users to donate to the
Japanese Red Cross Appeal
As Japan continues to deal with a rapidly evolving
humanitarian crisis after Friday's massive earthquake,
measuring 8.9 on the Richter scale, subsequent tsunami
and emerging nuclear situation, NGOs and charities
across the world are urging people to donate.
The earthquake triggered a tsunami which hit the east
coast of Japan with 7-metre-high waves, leaving a
trail of destruction. So far, more than 2,000 people
have died in the disaster and many more are injured
or displaced from areas along Japan's east coast.
The number of confirmed dead is expected to rise
considerably in the coming days. The earthquake has
caused severe damage to buildings, leaving millions
of homes without electricity and water.
The Japanese Red Cross has been working on the ground
since the disaster began, mobilising teams of doctors,
nurses and support staff, to provide first aid and
healthcare and assess the needs of the Japanese people
and others affected by the disaster.
Hotcourses would like to extend our deepest condolences
to the people of Japan and to those affected by the
Tohoku Pacific Ocean earthquake. The degree of suffering
and destruction that the earthquake and tsunami have
brought to large areas of Japan is almost impossible
to comprehend.
As the situation is very fluid and information on the
number of people affected by the earthquake, tsunami
and current nuclear situation is constantly changing,
we advise you to check the news regularly for an update
on the situation as it unfolds.
