1.Please write down Maxwell's equations with brief interpretation.(10%)
2.(a)What is the relation between E, B and the velocity υ of the
electromagnetic wave? (5%)
(b)Please derive the relation of c=(μ0ε0)^(-1/2) and E/B =c in a traveling
electromagnetic wave in application of Maxwell's equations. (10%)
3.(a)Please derive the energy-momentum relation in relativity:
E^2 = C^2 * p^2 + (m0 * c^2)^2 (10%)
(b)Please show that a particle whose mass ar rest is zero must travel with
velocity equal to c. (15%)
4.Please show and explain what is the Compton shift? (10%)
5.Please write down the Schroedinger equation for a guantum well system with
length L and infinite deep potential well. (10%)
Solve the Schroedinger equation and obtain the quantized energy and the
related wave function. (20%)
6.Explain the concept of duality, and give two examples (described in details,
please) for the "wave" behaving as "particle" and "particle" as "wave",
respectively. (10%)
7.What is the Stern-Gerlach experiment? Please give the interpretation of the
experiment. (10%)
