During winter season, if you want to visit the park, you can explore areas that are not open to regular vechicles on a snowmobile (rent) or on a snow coach (think of it like a small bus, but can easily travel on snow). There are several tour operators at the entrances of the park selling this kind of package. Most operators have an officea in West Yellowstone (west entrance) and some are near Mammoth (North entrance). Yellowstone Park looks very different in the winter time, so it is worth checking out. --
