The losing bothered him, and he plans to work all summer on improving the weakest area of his game: the mid-range jumpshot. Wall hasn't really begun working on a 3-point shot and made just 29.6 percent in limited attempts this year. But he knows that he first needs to develop a 10-15 footer that he can make reliably, to punish defenses that sag off him. According to Hoopdata.com, Wall made just 28 percent of the shots he took from 10-15 feet. Wall said he will work closely with Wizards assistant Sam Cassell—whose career lasted 15 years, largely because of his ability to drain the mid-range shot—in the offseason. "I did a whole lot with Sam this year, and I want to do more," Wall said. "I am still working with Sam and there is a lot I am going to keep working on with him, developing my mid-range jump shot. That's what he has been helping me with. He made his career on the mid-range jump shot. He gave me a bunch of film to watch and study. He wasn't a fast athlete at point guard, but he knew how to play, got to the spots he wanted to and just ran his team.
