The Royal Navy looking for revenge after several rather embarrassing defeats developed a sophisticated sabotage operation to sank both of them - midget submarine HMS XE3 sneaked under ship's keel and placed there 6 limpet mines that when set off would detonate 4 tons of explosives located at the bottom of the ship.
