The organisers of the upcoming Rally New Zealand have defended their use of the new, controversial Mille Piste recce format, despite being the only event on this year旧 World Rally Championship calendar to use it. The system, in which drivers and co-drivers recce stages in the morning and then compete on them in the afternoon, has been heavily criticised, but will be still be used on Rally New Zealand after encouragement from the FIA, world motorsport旧 governing body.
