Vince Carter wants to coach after he retires

When Magic shooting guard Vince Carter holds his summer basketball camps for
kids and teens, he has occasionally heard campers say, “Hey, Coach.”
Carter conceded that “it was weird at first.”
今年夏天，魔术後卫Vince Carter举办了一些青少年的训练营，

Carter, who turns 33 in January, surprisingly says he plans on giving
coaching a whirl once his NBA career ends.

school, college, pros,” Carter said, sitting alone with me after practice on

Guys like Vince have too much money and ego and lasting fame to deal with
the aggravation.

He’s something of a loner, never had an entourage and has been an unselfish
player despite all the all-star fanfare.

Van Gundy even had to order Carter to quit trying to fit in during training
camp, stop passing up shots to ingratiate himself with teammates.

For another thing, he’s matured since his young, foolish days, when he
wrestled with then -Toronto Raptors Coach Sam Mitchell and wanted out of
Canada so badly his motivation waned.

Former Magic Coach Brian Hill has said that Carter was the most coachable
player he’d ever been around while an assistant with the New Jersey Nets the
past few years.

Coaching, broadcasting, promoting his sanctuary to treat addictions and

He was sitting on some steps at the sportsplex, rubbing a hand across the top
of his head where there once was plenty of hair.

Carter can see down the road — and that road for him is I-4.

It might be a nightmare for daily commuters. But Vince hopes to play four
more years to reach his goal of 15, maybe "squeeze out" a total of six more
seasons. He prays he'll finish his career still driving from his Isleworth
mansion to Magic headquarters and back.

championship in Orlando and ultimately, a retirement ceremony with the MC
being a near-30-year-old Dwight Howard.

Why, he even broke one of the NBA's oldest player commandments: Vince said
he'd consider playing "for less" just to stay in town. The Magic hold a team
option on his contract in 2011-12 at a whopping $18 million — and they
surely expect a title first.

fulfilling.

hasn't ever played with this much talent, and certainly with nothing
resembling Howard in the middle.

An eight-time all-star, Carter realizes his legacy is at stake. He's never

think about his cousin, Tracy McGrady.

Carter followed the Magic growing up in Daytona Beach and returns to Central
Florida after the club reached the NBA Finals for the first time since 1995.
He says the "only pressure I've really felt was pleasing my teammates. That's
it. I'm being honest.
