Carter averaged 28.6 points on .469 shooting, 6.6 rebounds and 4.9 assists to lead New Jersey to a 10-4 record, including eight straight wins to finish the month. During the Nets 8-0 stretch, which began Dec. 16 with a win over the Nuggets, Carter averaged 32.8 points, recording eight 20-plus-point games and five 30-plus-point games. Carter recorded a season high and tied his career high with 51 points, while connecting on a franchise-high 23 free throws, in a 95-88 win over Miami on Dec. 23. Nowitzki averaged 27.2 points on .472 shooting from the floor and .912 from the free throw line, 9.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists. Dallas went 12-4 this month, a franchise high for wins in December and the second-most wins by the Mavericks in any month in team history. Nowitzki posted seven games of 30 or more points, recording a season high of 37 in a 105-95 win over Sacramento on Dec. 22.
