大意就OK了。
-------
Timberwolves coach Dwane Casey's father, James Casey, died early Tuesday
morning in Indianapolis. He was 80.
James Casey had been hospitalized since Oct. 14 with kidney and heart
trouble, complications from diabetes. He had been ill for about six months,
Dwane Casey said.
"He died peacefully," the Wolves coach said Tuesday afternoon. "It's best
for him. He's no longer in pain."
Coach Casey said he stayed awake past 1 a.m. watching film of Monday
night's game against the Los Angeles Clippers. He found out that his
father had died when he received a phone call about 2:15 a.m. from a
hospital staff member.
"That's real life," he said. "One minute you win a game and you're happy
and excited, and then...''
James Casey's funeral will be Saturday in Indianapolis. The Wolves' coach
will miss practice Friday and Saturday to be with his family and attend the
service. He plans to meet the team Sunday morning in Denver for that night's
game against the Nuggets.
James Casey and his wife, Peggy, were married for 46 years. Dwane Casey
said he ranks going to drive-in movies with his family as a young boy in
Kentucky among his favorite memories of his father.
"He was a strong person," he said. "He loved sports, basketball and baseball."
The Wolves' coach last saw his father on Oct. 13, the day before an
exhibition game against the Indiana Pacers in Indianapolis, where Casey's
family lives. He spent the evening before the game with his family. His
father had been in hospice care for several weeks and was hospitalized the
day of the game.
Dwane Casey is the oldest of five children and has two brothers and two
sisters. James Casey was retired from his job as a guard at a reformatory
for juveniles.
The Wolves coach did not announce the news of his father's death to the team.
But word filtered from Kevin Garnett to other players. They passed along
their condolences.
Branded: Los Angeles Clippers forward Elton Brand made quite an impression
in two games against the Wolves. Brand scored 27 points in Los Angeles on
Saturday and 26 points Monday night at Target Center. Brand shot 64 percent
(21 of 33) combined in the two games, with many of those points coming
against Garnett.
Brand and the Clippers play the Wolves again Nov. 29 at Target Center.
Garnett said he thinks Brand is being more aggressive at the urging of
former Wolf turned Clipper Sam Cassell.
"That's what Sam does," Garnett said. "I know Sam is not only going to fuel
him with motivation but with stories. He did with me, telling me the stuff
Dream (Hakeem Olajuwon) used to do. I'm pretty sure he's giving him
information on how I prepare and all that stuff.
"He's one of the better players in the league. I'm sure Sam has critiqued
him a little bit and pointed some things out. He's shooting the jumper,
which is totally unlike him. He's being aggressive. He's going to the basket,
getting calls. In order for them to win, he's going to have to continue
to do that."
Watching and waiting: Wolves forward Nikoloz Tskitishvili has been on the
inactive list for the past three games and did not play the only time he
was listed active, in the season opener.
Casey said Tskitishvili has not been used because of the matchups with
opposing shooting guards and small forwards. The Clippers had Cuttino Mobley,
and the Seattle SuperSonics featured Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis. Casey said
the Wolves needed another guard/forward on the active list who could play in
case Trenton Hassell got in foul trouble.
"There's going to be some teams he's definitely going to match up against
better," Casey said.
