Urbano Lugo, a retired major league pitcher who played with Urbina
in the Venezuelan winter leagues, said he suspects that Urbina would
be willing to pay a ransom.
"I think he wants to bring his mother back alive," said
Lugo, who
is vice president of the Venezuelan Baseball Players Association.
"I don't care how much money he has to pay. More important to him
is having his mother."
