Published March 05, 2015 12:13 KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - Hsieh Su-Wei kept alive her hopes of reclaiming the BMW Malaysian Open after a rollercoaster second round triumph over Misa Eguchi on Thursday. On another sweltering afternoon in the Malaysian capital, Hsieh required three sets, two hours and one change of outfit to defeat Eguchi. Last year, an out-of-form Hsieh lost to Eguchi at an ITF Circuit event in Seoul, but this time a more relaxed approach helped her exact revenge with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 victory. "Last year, I was under more pressure. I missed out in qualifying for the main draw at a few tournaments and my coach sent me to play an ITF and win a few rounds," Hsieh said. "Today, I was a little nervous in the second set, trying to push the ball in, and hitting it wider and kept just missing. "In the third set, I tried to hit the ball harder and I played much better." And strategy was not the only change Hsieh made in the decider: "It was very hot there and so I changed from shorts to a skirt. It definitely helped me move faster. But I also like the white dress - it's my favorite color!" Hsieh came through qualifying to lift the title in Kuala Lumpur three years ago and in the next round she will take on a player looking to repeat the feat, Elizaveta Kulichkova. The top half's second quarterfinal will pit another of the tournament's surprise packages, Carina Witthoeft against top seed Caroline Wozniacki. Witthoeft will be appearing at this stage of a WTA event for the first time in her fledgling career, although this inexperience was nowhere to be seen against No.5 seed Klara Koukalova, whom she saw off, 7-6(3), 6-0. Wozniacki is likely to provide a far sterner test of the young German's credentials. As in her opening round, Wozniacki was forced to weather an early storm, but after taking a tight first set she quickly wrapped up a 6-4, 6-1 win over Zhu Lin. "She played very aggressively, very flat. But I served very well, ran down a lot of balls and kept fighting," Wozniacki said. "It's always difficult when you play someone for the first time and it took me a while to figure her out.
