Although是副词子句连接词，後面引导的是一个有主词跟动词的句子；despite则是介系
词片语，後面接的是词类须为名词片语或所有格来作为介系词的受词。原po文中提到的两
个句子的英文句子参考翻译大致如下：
（1）Although Ming gets hurt, he says it doesn't matter.
（2）Despite being hurt, Ming says it doesn't matter.
另外，Despite不能接of，如果想要用of表达尽管的意思，须把Despite改为In spite of
才行，相关例句可以至Longman的网站查询。
有人推文说Despite + that就等同於although吗？
从意思上来看，尽管跟虽然这两个连接词在中文的意思与用法都是差不多的，中文似乎
没有很严谨的差异在，所以上述两个英文例句中的英文用法不同，但是两者意思一样，
如果想要把上头例句（2）改成跟Althogh的用法一样的话，可以改为：
（3）Despite the fact that Ming gets hurt, he says it doesn't matter.
从简洁的角度来看，例句（2）用较少的文字表达出同样的意思。
