同学好，我是SK2 TOEFL 冲刺班的David ， 托福从今年八月起改版，口说拿掉了旧制的第一题、第五题。然而根据我们 的观察和SK2 同学的回报，口说「题目」上也有点变化，且听分析： 新制口说第四题（原本第六题），在TPO 中，听力通常会给出两个主题、两 个例子，并且「题目」会写出希望你解释的主题。我们举TPO 51 回为例： Using the example of baboons from the lecture, explain two ways in which display behavior can help animals maintain group unity. 如此，我们的回答第一句话，便可以照着题目的後半，说出： The professor explained two ways in which display behavior can help animals maintain group unity. 我们也知道，回答的最後一句话，也可以是： As a result, xxx (animal) can maintain group unity. 就算是比较奇怪的单主题（但是有两个不同例子）的TPO 52，题目通常也会 写出要你解释什麽，如下： What is a policy of moral suasion? Use the Smokey the Bear and recycling campaigns to explain how it works. 我们第一句话可以说： The professor explained the policy of moral suasion. 最後一句话可以是： That’s how the professor explained the policy of moral suasion. 然而，最近有几次的考试，口说第四题的题目「没有提出要你解释的主 题」，可能只会说： Summarize the lecture using the examples given by the professor. 如此一来，我们的开头就不能根据题目提供的资讯去说了！怎麽办呢？ 这样的更动，更考验我们「注意讯号字」，以「听到两个主题」的能力。具 体来说，你要去注意在听力前段，教授提到的”a number of” “a few” “a couple of” 等等的字，才会知道教授接下来要提的是”two ways xxx do ooo” “two methods xxx do ooo” 还是”two adaptations of xxx animals”. 一但抓到这个资讯，即便没有题目的帮助，我们也可以说出： The professor explained the two ways xxx do ooo. 这一点是和TPO 中不大一样的，请同学在练习的时候，需要特别注意！我们 可以利用题目，但不应该过度倚赖题目给的资讯。只要你去理解听力的架 构，能够区分主题和细节，那麽说出流畅的第一句回答，也不会是问题。 当然，要直接破题，也是另外一个选项。题目请你summarize，因此直接告 诉我们： The first N. the professor talked about, is xxx 也当然可以！ 以上分享，提醒同学注意！ ～SK2 David -- SK2 David. iBT 118, R29/L29/S30/W30 SK2 TOEFL Consultant Group. http://SK2toefl.blogspot.com --
