3.还有一题讲活版印刷,说最先是德国的Gutenberg等人发明了,它划分了中世纪甚麽的
,有一道指代题,this指代甚麽。而且还是一个倒装句,To this was added XXX. 前一
句有个单词是VELLUM,是牛皮纸的意思,我觉得也只有这个符合逻辑了,还有几个单词也
不认识,都是活版印刷的技术。
这题this 考试时看不大懂 也忘了原题是什麽了
只记得有这几个字 parchment, vellum, calf skin, ?
One sort of parchment is vellum, a word that is used loosely to mean
parchment, and especially to mean fine parchment, but more strictly refers to
parchment made from calf skin (although goat skin can be as fine in quality).
The words "vellum" and "veal" come from Latin vitulus, "calf", or its
diminutive vitellus. In the Middle Ages calfskin and split sheepskin were the
most common materials for making parchment in England and France, while
goatskin was more common in Italy.
