There was Steven Hunter, the young, athletic 7-footer who would fill in at center and power forward, helping with the defense and shot-blocking, picking up opportunity points. There was the veteran Lee Nailon, coming off his most productive season, averaging 14.2 points in 68 games with the New Orleans Hornets. Eventually, Cheeks turned to Randolph, who left Duke after three seasons only to go undrafted.
