Philadelphia 76ers President Billy King announced today that
the Sixers have traded forward Marc Jackson and an undisclosed
amount of cash to the New Jersey Nets in exchange for a conditional
second round pick in the 2006 NBA Draft.
In five NBA seasons, the 6-foot-10 forward has played with three
different teams: Golden State (2000-02), Minnesota (2002-03) and
Philadelphia (2003-05), averaging 9.0 points and 4.7 rebounds in
267 games (71 starts). Last season, Jackson averaged 12.0 points
and 5.0 rebounds in a career-high 81 games (23 starts) with the 76ers,
while shooting 46.5 percent (340-731 FG) from the field.
Drafted by Golden State in the second round (38th overall pick) of
the 1997 NBA Draft after his junior season at Temple University, Jackson
played three seasons internationally - Tofas Bursa (Turkey) in 1997-98,
Lobos Caja Cantabria (Spain) in 1998-99 and Cantabria Lobos (Spain)
in 1999-00. He joined the Warriors for the 2000-01 season, when he
earned a selection to the NBA All-Rookie Team and finished third in
the balloting for NBA Rookie of the Year.
