Case Study 1:
You are a Cub Scout Leader. You have been approached by a parent of an
existing Cub Scout regarding their younger daughter, Jane, who is just
turning eight. She wants to join the Cub Pack like her younger brother
but the parents are worried that she will struggle to keep up with the
other Cubs as she has spina bifida and uses a wheelchair.
You speak to your Assistant Section Leaders and they are concerned that will
not be able to cope with the responsibulity of looking after Jane and that the
programme, which features a lot of activities and games that the Cubs enjoy,
will have to be changed to accommodate Jane.
Your Group Chairman has also expressed concern that your meeting place is not
accessible for wheelchairs. One of the leadership team has suggested that
Jane joins a special needs Scout Group that meets once a week at the local
special needs school which Jane attends.
Case Study 3:
You are the Scout Leader and you are taking your Troop on a weekend camp. As
the campsite is some distance away you have decided to travel there with the
Troop on Friday evening.
After you have sent out the letters and programme, two of the parents ask to
see you after the Troop meeting one night to discuss the trip. They want to
send their children to the camp but as Muslims they attend Koran studies on
Friday evenings in the Mosque. They are also concerned that your programme
makes no provision for their prayer times.
You are happy to make changes to the arrangements. You speak to your Assistant
Scout Leader who is the Nights Away Permit holder and did all the bookings.
The Assistant Scout Leader is upset about making any changes and also expresses
concern that campsite, where programmed activities have been booked, is
already busy and the programme may now need to be reduced. The leader is also
concerned about how you will explain the changes to the Scouts and parents.
Case Study 4:
David, one of your Explorer Scouts, has told you in confidence thet he is
gay. He has not discussed this with the other Explorers in the Unit but
some of the Explorers have started to pick on him and make inappropriate
references to his sexuality. Some of the other leaders have started to join in
with the jokes.
The Unit is planning to go away next weekend and is staying in dormitories in
a youth hostel. Some of the Explorers have started to say that they will not
go if they have to share a room with David,
David has said that he will not go no the trip next weekend and is not sure
if he wants to stay in Scouting.
Case Study 5:
You are an Assistant Cub Scout Leader with an all male leadership team and
your Section has recently become mixed. The Leadership team and GSL were split
over the decision and some members of the teams are still unhappy about it.
Despite having accepted girls into the Pack you are finding that they do not
stay more than few weeks and that the Pack is still predominantly male. You
currently only have one female Cub in the Pack.
When you start planning the Annual Cub Camp, the Leaders say that they are
not willing to take the Pack away this year as it will be much harder work
with a mixed Pack, particularly with just one female Cub.
Case Study 2 没照到
主要是讲你的团有两群不同社经背景的小孩
一部份是白领阶级、一部份是蓝领阶级
然後要怎麽去融合这些差异(例如会比较东西这类的)
