In 2001: I joined the Schalke youth team In 2007: As National youth player, I signed my first professional contract with FC Schalke 04 In 2008: I extended my contract for a further 6 years. In 2013: I extended my contract again for an another 4 years. Today, I signed my fourth contract, extending it until 2020. I did this with a clear mind and a beating heart. I owe FC Schalke 04, a lot - As a DFB Pokal and World Champion, I have so much to thank the club for. I gathered a lot of experience from an early stage; with being the youngest captain of the club and with that I assumed a lot of responsibility. I have said multiple times that I will never play for another club in the Bundesliga. In the time of “I” I want to stand for “WE” and we are; For Reliability. For loyalty. I swear to to defend these words, both on and off the pitch. FC Schalke 04 is a unique club, in a unique region, with unique fans, who make every game feel like a home game. We are the friend and fighter club. We are performance over appearance club. Let us stand for our ideas, ideals and dreams….and as the captain, I’ll gladly go first. Denn Kohle geht.
