In my opinion, the first impression is important for many people when they contact a person in different fields; however it is not the only choice to judge a person's character by the first impression. Take for the business activity example, the staff in the insurance company always wear smile and say fine words to the customers in order to win the business. As customers, they easily trust the staff and sign the contact finally. But the staffs could hide the risk behind the business without saying any disadvantage of insurance for the customers. The customers just know the benefit of buying insurance, but they could lose lots of fortune once the insurance company is bankruptcy. On the contrary, when we know a new friend, it is not enough to realize a person's character by the first impression. We need time to communicate with a person and exchange the ideas each other rather than judging a person's behavior from the first time. We have a proverb in Chinese language; it tells us only time will show a person's shortcomings and bad behavior. To sum up, using first impression to judge a person' character and behavior is subjective judgment. Having good impression from a person's behavior doesn't help us know his character correctly.
