Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. == In my country, being obedient, following the elders’ advice, and being cooperative with family members are traditionally considered important qualities of a good son or daughter. As the time goes by, customs change with the trend of the society. Under the influence of foreign cultures, we this generation may add some concepts into these old rules. Following statement will suggest some examples to explain that these qualities do change a little in my culture. In our parents’ generation, they usually listened to the older family member and hardly opposed to what they said. In our generation, being a good son or daughter is not equal to total obedience. On the contrary, we usually think after being told to do so. It is not to say that we are so dogmatic that we do not adopt others’ opinions but to demonstrate that we are discernible. We believe the world is changing. We can adjust slightly our reaction to achieve a balance point between the elders’ advice and our ideas. As mentioned above, to be a good member in a family, it is necessary to work with other family members. Basically, it is reasonable to work with brothers or sisters to achieve certain goal, maybe to build a house or to purchase some real estates for whole family. In an old-fashioned viewpoint, one could not avoid such burden in any case. However, now I tend to take the responsibility based on my ability and resources. If I am not able to handle the task, I would tell the family member honestly and politely ask them to search for others’ help. It is more efficient and better for all family members to do so. To conclude, traditions and values do change with time. Original qualities of a good son or daughter are modified with society.
