Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion. ____________________________________________________________________ Depending on different point of views, the effects made by technology are interpreted to be either beneficial or harmful to human beings. In my opinion, I do not agree with that technology has made the world a better place to live considering the weaken relations among people and environmental issues that result from technology promotion we face nowadays. First of all, although technology indeed brings much convenience in daily modern life such as the Internet or mobile phones speeding up the data exchanging and communication cross nations, people feel less and less happy due to their rush steps everyday as well as poorer relationship with friends and family. Rush steps press people to give up leisure hours to take exercise or to get along with family and friends, which makes human beings being more like a working machine or a robot, and ignoring their spiritual needs. Minds that lack of spirit cannot bring neither happiness nor a better life. Moreover, increasing concerns on resource shortage and global warming which all torment people with lower life qualities tell that technology has not made a better place for living. More flouring technology is developed; more natural resources are consumed in an extremely rapid way. In other words, the technology created by people also destroys the environment in which we live tremendously. Issues on highly rising gas prices, climate change, for example, Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and extreme weathers such as long-term high temperature results in abnormal ocean currents and melting Antarctica ice shelf all threaten people suffering from oil shortage, rising sea levels, and unpredictable danger from extreme weathers. No matter how many advantages technology provides, it is not possible to have a safe and better place to live when people are threatened by those disasters mentioned above. To sum up, even technology brings some developments for people’s life; we cannot eliminate the harm it makes. Safety, the most fundamental demand for human beings, has already been menaced by highly developed technology. Besides, in hi-tech era, living a fast-paced life makes less and less leisure time being available for people to relax and to maintain friendship. Regarding too many negative aspects resulted from promoting technology, I do not think that technology provides a better environment to live. --
