Some people believe that university should help students to develop some specific knowledge and skills in order to face some problems in future their jobs. However, I think that the role of university should be a consultant to help students to find their interests and acquire many kinds of knowledge. My supporting ideas are below and explain why it is. To begin with, the fact is that we would face many kinds of things and problems in our daily life. Some problems are not belonging to your major. Take "An inconvenient Truth" for example, the issue is belong to environment system rather than some business or engineering subjects. If we don't acquire any relative knowledge from university and only focus on our major, we will have no ideas about the issue and even don't know what cause the crisis and what the conclusion is. That is why every university asks students to register some other field subject relative to history or laws. As time go on, our earth becomes smaller and smaller, we are definitely a part of the global village. We have to increase our background knowledge to engage in lots of fairs in the world. One of the university's responsibilities is to help students become a member of the earth. That is why the diversity of course is very important. Additionally, it's is no doubt that our interests and our jobs are not the same. Some people engage in business, but they are music fanatic. Some people's job is engineering, but their interest is art. In my country, our schools always focus on helping students to get higher grades and get the admission of famous school. From the experience, I really think that those schools just train students to become test experts. However, our university should set some courses relative to art, music and so on, it is very hard for us to understand some specific story about a painting or a composer and to discuss those with teachers and your classmates by just yourself. From the discussion process, we can learn more and more and broaden our view. This function is cannot to be replaced by just staying at home and seeing lots of art products. In conclusion, nowadays, many products are not only simple goods which people used to regard rather than complex products relative to many other fields. Take the cell phone for example, mobile phone is not only a phone to communicate with others but also a products having the decorating function. For engineers, they also have to pay attentions on the cell phone looking. Modern people need more and more knowledge for their lives and jobs. That is why I think that the university should ask students to take lots of kinds of courses. --
