When he was ahead in the count, he held hitters to a .190/.194/.248 line for a .441 OPS. When he fell behind, he got in trouble, with hitters bashing a .363/.552/.563 line and a 1.114 OPS. Scouting report: Friedrich struggled with health the past couple of years, missing time in each season with elbow issues. When he's physically sound, he's got a four-pitch mix at his disposal. He has a plus fastball that can touch the mid-90s. Both of his breaking pitches -- curve and slider -- are above-average to plus.
