The Rockets’ injuries might have opened the way for veteran forward
Francisco Garcia to work his way back into the Rockets rotation.
Before the Rockets began playing without James Harden, Chandler Parsons
or Carlos Delfino in the past week, Garcia had been edged out of the rotation.
He did not play in three of four games before Harden sat out with a sore foot,
playing only in the rout of the Cavaliers. Harden returned, but Parsons
missed a game with food poisoning and then three with a strained right calf.
Delfino missed a game with a sore right foot then three with the flu.
In the four games filling in with starters out for them heading into Tuesday’s
game against the Suns, Garcia averaged 13 points on 52.9 percent shooting.
In the five games before he was dropped from the rotation, Garcia averaged 2.2 points
on 26.7 percent shooting. With Parsons and Delfino back,
the Rockets would have an eight-man rotation, not including a backup power
forward.
“We’ll probably have a nine-man rotation,” Rockets coach Kevin McHale said.
