和Barry White一样，Wayne Henderson、Joe Sample、Stix Hooper、Wilton Felder、
Hubert Laws、Larry Carlton、Robert Popwell等几位爵士大师的团体The Crusaders，
八零年代也不怎麽灵光。专辑《Ghetto Blaster》搭上时兴的放克爵士风潮，丢给听众的
不再是具有时代意义的音乐内容。毕竟，当时的美国正值总统Reagan上台不久，经济起
飞、享乐气氛浓厚，十年前存在人们心中的那份生活忧惧感，早已消失无踪。
Earth, Wind & Fire主唱Philip Bailey在这一年推出了他单飞不解散的第二张大碟
《Chinese Wall》，关门曲就是〈Children of the Ghetto〉。《Chinese Wall》是
Philip Bailey与好友Phil Collins合作的概念作品，曲风丰富多元，而在这个时机点翻
唱The Real Thing的〈Children of the Ghetto〉，绽放出的是冷战末期世界观，让
「Ghetto」的意义不再局限於黑人自身。
