Hellickson hit on head by ball, taken to hospital
Rays pitcher Jeremy Hellickson was hit on the head by a home run during the
Tigers batting practice and taken to a hospital.
Manager Joe Maddon said Hellickson was not bleeding and did not lose
consciousness and was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
Maddon said he thinks Hellickson will be okay.
Hellickson was throwing his between starts bullpen before today's game when
he went down, with trainers and paramedica racing to his aid.
Rays Boroski said Hellickson was hit on left side of head just above eye.
There are no screens protecting pitchers here in Detroit.
