To suggest that the duel between Ray Allen, perhaps the NBA's best long-range shooter, and Bruce Bowen, perhaps the NBA's best perimeter defender, has reached epic proportions would be an overstatement. Wherever Allen goes, Bowen will follow, as will the attention of everyone watching. It's quite possible the fate of the series hangs in the balance. "If it was just a one-on-one game between me and Bruce, then that would be easy, I shouldn't say easy, but I'd be a lot more confident," Allen said. "But it's not. It's not just me and Bruce out there. ... So I understand it's what everybody wants to talk about, but there's more to this series than me and him. In his heart of hearts, Allen believes defensive-minded players are inferior to those who produce points. It's this fundamental belief that shapes his opinions about Bowen and led to comments that referred to Bowen's tactics as "sissy ball."
