Ron Washington wants Vlad Guerrero back LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Rangers manager Ron Washington made clear his preference for the club's 2011 DH: Vladimir Guerrero. When asked about some other names on the market or possibilities, Washington didn't hesitate before answering. "I'd rather get Vlad," Washington said. "He did a great job for us." Guerrero led the club with 115 RBIs in 2010. He batted .300 during the regular season with 29 homers. The veteran slugger did tail off in the second half. He hit just .210 in July and struggled to start August. But he battled back to hit .323 in September. Guerrero had a big two-RBI double against the Yankees late in Game 6 of the ALCS after manager Joe Girardi intentionally walked Josh Hamilton with runners on base. Guerrero is trying to get a multi-year deal, but the Rangers would prefer a one-year deal again. So Guerrero is testing the market. If he doesn't get a multi-year pact, the Rangers could be waiting. Daniels said he'd prefer a right-handed DH and wouldn't mind one that could play a position. "That would give Wash some more options, and he could get guys off their feet," Daniels said. But if Paul Konerko signs with the White Sox, Guerrero becomes one of the best bats left on the market. The club waited until other players were off the board last year before signing Guerrero in January.
