Though he's making a paltry 30% of them, I don't really have a problem with his 5.5 attempts in and of themselves. The number seems high, but it's possible Smith could get that many good looks from long range in a given game. After just 41% of his perimeter shots were three-pointers last season, 72% are this season. He's not very good at it but is a strong finisher near the basket. It could be that Maurice Cheeks has not yet installed sets designed to get Smith in the paint while playing power forward.
