In the Free Press’ list of possible big-name free agents for the Pistons,
one name stands out: Ron Artest. Could that work?
Freep将FA市场中的好物列了张清单，当中有个不错的选项---Ron Artest 这样有搞头吗?
Ha! A talented forward, respected by teammates, who can be a distraction off
the court with some of his antics. Naaaah. The Pistons would never hitch
their wagon to someone like that. (Quasi-subtle Rasheed reference there in
case it wasn’t obvious).
科科...一个多才多艺的锋线球员，尊重队友，又可以用来搞笑。
对活塞而言，他看起来难道不像是个不可多得的好物吗?
(尤其是被吹哨後，他和Rasheed似乎都有着相似的微妙反应)
Of course Artest will never happen. He remains the centerpiece of the ugliest
moment in Detroit sports history (other than the Matt Millen era). And for
the Pistons to sign him would represent a tacit endorsement of what happened.
He’s not kryptonite as evidenced by the fact that he’s played for three
teams since the brawl. But he is Detroit kryptonite. So why debate something
that will never, ever happen?
不过用脚斗夫想也知道这不可能发生
他在底特律运动史上最糟糕的那次事件中可是主角捏!
(除了Matt Millen那年代以外 <---这似乎是NHL的梗~他当家的八年底特律狮战绩鸟到爆)
如果活塞在今夏签下了他，怎麽可能会不提到过去所发生的一切咧。
实际上他并非真的像氪星石那样具有强大威力
(可改变克利普顿星人身体或性格、可令普通人拥有不同的超能力 --- by Wikipedia )
自从大乱斗後，他共待过三支队伍，分别是溜马、国王、火箭
但他就像是底特律的氪星石，您为什麽要着急呢? 虽然这是几乎不可能发生的事情
Because this is the internet, and it’s Friday. So here goes …
因为这只是网路，而且是周五，所以咱们来嘴炮吧!!
Artest has gone through a bit of a renaissance this postseason. When it
looked as if the Rockets might pull an upset on the Lakers, there were some
who called him a top 10 player and even a better player than Tracy McGrady,
whose absence during the Rocket run was notable to say the least. That may
have been a slight exaggeration. But he’s still an outstanding defensive
player and a very good all-around player. The only problem for the Pistons is
that he plays a position they already have filled. Tayshaun Prince is not the
player Artest is, but he’s not far behind. And when you’re trying to
reshape your roster, I don’t think you strengthen a position of strength.
The wrinkle there of course would be if Joe Dumars plans to trade Prince in
any off-season moves he has in mind. Only he knows that.
Artest在今年季後赛表现有复苏的趋势，甚至火箭差点把湖人给干掉
有人认为当下的他根本就是联盟Top10的猛将，甚至比T-Mac还要威
因为即使T-Mac因伤缺阵，火箭仍然打出不错的成绩，虽然这麽称赞Artest有点小夸张了些
他的防守功夫仍然是顶尖的，而且它是个很棒的all-around球员
但对於活塞而言，唯一的问题是---他打的SF位置已经有小王子了
小王子不是像Artest那样的球员，但也相去不远了
如果你现在打算把手上的roster重新洗牌，我不认为你这麽做有强化到本来就有优势的点
不过当然眼前的问题当然得先看Joe有没有打算把小王子拿出来交易，只有Joe自己知道
The Palace brawl is still a fascinating event to me. I watched it again on
YouTube before I wrote this, just to reset everything in my mind. I’m still
annoyed that Artest was held up as the only reason the incident occurred. His
actions are inexcusable, and I’m in no way defending him. But a lot of people
’s actions were inexcusable that night, including Ben Wallace’s, many of
the fan’s, and even some of the security. Those to try to portray it as the
awful Artest vs. the angelic Palace faithful are crazy. Artest didn’t throw
the cup. Artest didn’t throw the chair. Artest didn’t throw the popcorn.
And Artest didn’t allow two dopey fans to walk onto the floor to challenge
some of the Pacer players. A lot of people were wrong that night. Artest was
at the forefront, and he paid the stiffest penalty. But I’ve always thought
that too many others got off with a slap on the wrist.
奥本山大乱斗对我而言仍然是个精采的事件。
我为了还原当下的真相，在写这篇以前从youtube又看了一次重播
我还是不爽Artest在这次事件中那不可饶恕的行为，我没有打算护航
但是除了他以外，有很多人的行为也是难以原谅的 包括Ben Wallace、球迷、甚至是警卫
那些试着想把这次事件描绘成 「大坏蛋Artest VS 天使般的真理」 的人根本就疯了
Artest没有丢杯子，Artest没有丢椅子，Artest没有丢爆米花
Artest也没有让两位白目球迷去找溜马的球员钉孤支。在那晚，很多人都做错事了
只是Artest是最前线锋头最健的那位而已，他也为此事件付出了严厉的代价
但我总认为有太多其他人处罚太轻了
Would signing Artest undo any of that? Of course not. But it will never
happen anyway. I just like to consider the irony when I ponder such a union.
如果签下Artst能否对那次事件改变什麽? 当然不会啊 但这是不可能发生的
只是我在想，会不会真的发生这麽讽刺的事情...
