The Pistons decided this week to bring back a player who provided some of the
season's few bright spots.
On the day president Joe Dumars talked about his plans to rebuild the team
into contenders, the team picked up the option of backup point guard Will
Bynum on Wednesday.

Bynum, 26, played in 57 games, averaging 7.2 points and 2.8 assists.

In the second half of the season, there were times the Pistons had trouble
scoring unless Bynum was on the floor. He thrilled the Palace with a
club-record 26 points in the fourth quarter against the Charlotte Bobcats.
His 32 points that night provided breathing room in front of the Bobcats in
the race for the eighth playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

pick-and-roll, and despite standing only 5-10, he's the team's best finisher
at the basket.

But he does turn over the ball a bit too much, and there's still a question
if he's just a really good No. 3 point or a solid backup.
