The Pistons spend only about a quarter of their time at The Palace. Their “other” home is the Detroit Pistons Practice Facility, tucked away in the corner of the sprawling Palace of Auburn Hills compound. It is a 32,000 square foot building that is 192’ x 168’. There is a full-size basketball court with a full-sized rubber running track around the court. Fifteen people have offices there as well as a training room, spas, hot and cold whirlpool and a swim-ex area: an above ground pool with windows in the side so that Pistons trainers can supervise a player’s exercise. The clay court was chosen because clay was the most giving on his legs, knees and hips. Mr. Davidson no longer plays, but you may be able to get a game with Mr. Tom Wilson or even Joe Dumars.
