But Wallace is linked to the Hall of Fame coach in several ways. Both are Philadelphia natives. Wallace played at Simon Gratz High; Chaney coached there 40 years ago. Wallace's high school coach, Bill Ellerbee, has been on Chaney's Temple staff for the last four years.
