astounded. After all, it was a spectacle at the time to see huge chunks
of materials heavier than air in the sky, and the thought that something
so large and heavy could actually fly probably brought out the skeptic in
most people. But most of all, those first passengers must have been awfully
brave. To try something new requires courage. You are about to do something
very different from anything you've done before. And like those early plane
