Roger Waters承认Set the Controls这首歌的歌词
是取材自一本由Arthur Whaley所翻译的中国诗集
有Floyd的乐迷则说
约在93、94年间听过Waters的电台专访
说Set Controls歌词的灵感
来自当时在看的一本晚唐的诗集
不过他已记不得确切的出处
大约在1997年时
同一个乐迷在旧书摊中看到了一本书：
A. C. Graham编译的"Poems of the Late T'ang"
翻阅之後，很肯定Waters当年看的就是这本诗集（Cliff Jones的资讯错误）
於是就展开了Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun的歌词考证
