还没开学一个人在系上满无聊的,再翻一个我觉得也满有趣的经验 What's your field? 化学工程（chemical engineering) 的“液体动态”（fluid mechanic）不知道对不对 What are the roles of conferences vs journals? 研讨会通常是用来展示你的研究进展,然後并不算你的着作, 研讨会只需要投你的研究大纲就好,当你的研究结束时候通常已经在好几个研讨会发表了 然後你会投到期刊去,不过前提是：你研究的赞助人允许！ 这个领域很实验都会有所谓的“publicaiton hold" What's the paper submission / review process? 重要大型的研讨会的审查不是blind,然後拒绝机率超高,研讨会发表非常短 他们希望尽量让每个人都可以有时间展现他们在研究什麽 期刊论文的审查是blind不过意义不大,因为大部份的研究都已经在研讨会发表过许多次 研讨会发表的期限通常是前六个月 What are the most prestigious publication venues? Conferences: AIChE Annual Meeting CSChE Annual Meeting Those are really the two main conferences for ChemE annually in North America. (通常是毕业就可找到工作还是要有博士後的经验） : 大部份的新教职员工都有博士後经验,不过跟别的领域有差不多的态度就是 : “如果你真的这麽强，你不会需要去找博士後工作” : Where does the money come from? （钱从哪来） : 作者是在美国念书,所以大部份的经费是来自美国军方跟情报机关还有ＮＳＦ, : 产业界也有些公司会赞助（微软，ＧＯＯＧＬＥ 等） : What happens at conferences? （研讨会通常在干什麽） : 如果你被accepted 做一个口头报告,你通常需要准备20分钟的报告（需要准备ＰＰＴ） : 大部份的研讨会ＳＵＢＭＩＳＳＩＯＮ都是被接受当海报（这也算是发表） : In multi-author papers, how is author order decided? （怎麽决定作者顺序） : 第一作者是贡献做多的,ＣＳ很好判定谁贡献最多,虽然没有通则，不过大部分是： : 1. 谁写这个ＰＡＰＥＲ跟程式的会是第一作者 : 2. 谁supervise最多的会是最後一个作者 （所以很多指导教授通常是最後一个） : 3. 如果你是教授还没拿到tenure的话,当越多“最後一个作者”越有利 : 大概就是这样了,这个讨论串还有很多不同领域的人分享,有机会可以看看 : 满有趣的,希望对大家有帮助 --
