We got to discuss things like PhDs, particularly here!
I would like to suggest to talk this issue by ratio or percentage.
Every school has a number of lecturers and staffs; certainly, an
appropriate number of PhD students does not have to be the same, or
even within an order.
What important is, how many lecturers and staffs, research resources,
funding, etc. are, averagely, allocated to an individual PhD student?
The number of the students are totally not an important point, if
the ratio between staffs and students is quite right.
