This will be taken very seriously, even for a professor. Therfore, this situation is hardly seen. This is the lecturer's problem. When you talk about education, no matter of which level, the points are how much the students can learn/remember after the class in a proper way. There is no point to stress the level should be the same as MIT or whatever, (You can also ask him a question, why just MIT?, why not NACA?) because this is not important at all. By the way, the lecturer might be doing some dirty jobs as well. Look at the grade structure. You want to pass, right? So, you all want the lecturer to adjust the final grade, right? And he must do this, definitely.... Then what will happen: those PhD would be definitely the first 20% or whatever and also get a grade more than 80 (after adjustment). Therefore, somebody could pass their QE by somehow... Anyway, I am just guessing.
