概要:
: We are analyzing the network properties of basketball games. Defining
: players as nodes and ball movements as links we can characterize a ball
: game as samples of random networks. We have studied the playoff games
: of the 2009/2010 NBA series. Using network theoretical constructs we
: can determine average properties of these networks and characterize the
: game, specific teams and specific players by their network properties. We
: show that there is a typical network structure for an NBA team. Most
: teams present a network that is close to this typical structure with the
: Lakers (high clustering case) and the Jazz (low clustering case) marking
: the extremes. The networks representing the Mavericks and the Cavaliers,
: respectively, are very untypical. In addition, connectedness in the network
: and the notion of flow centrality allows us to determine the value of a
: player for the team, in contrast to the usual individualized statistics.
: This is joint work with John Ingraham, and Alex Petersen from the
: School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences and with Jennifer Fewell
: from the School of Life Sciences, Arizona State University.
我们着眼於分析篮球比赛的网络特质。为此我们对球员和球的流动下定义，
把场上球员当作节点，球的流动当做各节点之间的连结线；这样每一场球赛都可以
当做是随机网络里的样本。我们研究了２００９和２０１０的季後赛。利用网络理
论学说，我们可以决定这些网络的平均特质；然後再利用这些特质，来归纳每个球
队和球员具有的网络特性。我们证明出每个球队都有一个典型的网络结构。
大部份球队的网络呈现是介於湖人（最高度群集网络）和爵士（最低度群集网络）之间

但有二队网络呈现很不符合典型现像，就是小牛和骑士队。

除此之外，网络里的连通性和球流动的集中性，可以让我们判断该球员对球队的价值；
这可以用来和传统的个人化数据比较一下。
这份研究是由二位ＡＳＵ数学和统计系教授和一位人文科学系的教授所完成。
