Hibbert also played the role of a recruiter while working out with big man Nene, one of the marquee free agents on the market, in San Antonio. Hibbert, who gained 15 pounds of muscle during the offseason, talked to Nene about teaming with him in the frontcourt this season. “I talked to him and told him how great the city is,” Hibbert said. “I was telling him we could work well together.” The Pacers have spoken to Nene’s agent but his price tag may be too high for the franchise. Nene averaged 14.5 points and 7.6 rebounds last season with the Denver Nuggets.
