With Indiana coming off its first playoff appearance since 2006, the franchise is at a turning point. By almost every projection, the Pacers were supposed to compete for a title that season. Instead, they won 44 games. The incident blew a hole in the season and in the blueprint Walsh and Bird had crafted. More off-court episodes tarnished the team's image locally.
